🍠香取市 × さつまいもの物語｜第1章「さつまいもが広がったきっかけ」

さつまいもが全国に広まったきっかけは、江戸時代。

享保の大飢饉をきっかけに、儒学者・青木昆陽が「救荒作物」として普及を推進しました。

その後、やせ地でも育つ特性から、香取市の旧栗源地域にも広がり、明治〜昭和期には「紅赤」などの品種が普及。土とともに、いも文化は根づいていきました。

Its ability to thrive in poor soil led to its adoption in Katori’s Kurimoto area.
By the Meiji and Showa eras, varieties like “Beniaaka” had taken root—both in the soil and in the culture.
